Well, that was fast. I can’t believe it’s already been a week of getting up at 5 am to fit in two workouts. If you read that and thought, “wow that sounds dreadful” it really wasn’t that bad. I was actually excited to get up in the morning. It’s been awhile since I’ve felt that way. I guess I was happy to get back on track.
You see, last year I woke up at 5 am everyday to workout twice a day and reached my goal of losing 30 pounds. Over the past couple months, I have really been slacking. My excuse, “I worked my ass off last year and sacrificed so much, I can eat that doughnut!” So yeah, that’s not the best mindset and I was starting to feel down and sluggish.
Within a few pages of the Tone It Up book my mindset began to change. The book focuses on your journey to being stronger mentally, emotionally and physically. Each day is broken into a few parts:
- Word of the Day and Morning Mantra
- Morning Booty Call (a quick workout/reflection).
- Healthy recipes and eating tips
- Daily challenges
- Evening workout
One thing that really stood out to me was when Katrina spoke about eating badly on the weekends. She said when you eat junk on the weekends you’re eating bad 12 out of the 30 days of the month! That’s almost half the time!
It’s true, you can’t out work a bad diet. I’ve known that but I was still making excuses and bad choices. This week I changed that. Rather than go out to eat this weekend, my boyfriend and I stayed in and made a healthy dinner together.
As for the workouts, I really enjoyed them and that they incorporated a lot of moves that I have never done before. As some who workouts regularly, I was surprised how tough some of the workouts were. I was sweating day and night from my two workouts. It felt good to focus on getting stronger and healthier. Speaking of focusing the inner reflection encouraged by Karena and Katrina has really got me feeling inspired. Check out my vision board I made during one of the daily challenges.
Thanks to the Tone It Up encouragement I’ve lost two pounds and I am excited to see what the rest of my journey has in store for me.
