Quick and easy treats for Easter

Growing up my Mom Mom would always have Easter egg dying and egg hunts at her house for Easter. Nowadays I have continued these traditions with an adult twist by inviting my friends, family, and neighbors over to eat, drink and dye eggs.

This year I made these fun and festive treats to get everyone in the spirit of things. Of course, if you don’t celebrate Easter you can use these desserts for any springtime party.
First up, we have a fun pretzel and white chocolate bark. You’ll need the following:

1 bag (12 oz) of white chocolate chips
3/4ths cup of thin pretzel sticks broken into small pieces
1/2 cup of pastel M&Ms (I used the peanut kind because they’re my fave)
Some colorful sprinkles

Place your chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 1 minute. Then continue to heat at 15-second intervals stirring between until completely smooth.
Next, add in M&Ms and pretzels and stir.
Spread mixture onto parchment lined baking sheet.
Sprinkle on sprinkles.
Chill in freezer for 20 minutes and break into pieces.

Next, we have these super cute chocolate covered bird’s nests. I saw this recipe on Good House Keeping and thought it would be perfect for my adult easter egg dying party.

Their recipe called for chow mien noodles but I figured since I already had the thin pretzel sticks I would use them instead. You will also need the following:

1 bag (12 oz) of milk chocolate chips
3/4th cup of creamy peanut butter
1 bag of candy-coated eggs
As mentioned, 4 cups of pretzel sticks (I broke mine in half)

In a medium saucepan, melt chocolate chips and peanut butter on low, stirring constantly, about 5 minutes.
Put pretzel pieces in a large bowl and pour chocolate mixture over them and stir to coat.
Place spoonfuls of mixture onto parchment lined baking sheet and form into nests.
Chill in freezer for about 30 minutes.
Add candy-coated eggs in your nest to serve.DSC05492

What’s your favorite springtime treat?
